Market Updates 20/03/2026

Mr. Tony, Dinh Duc Thang – Chairman of Stavian Group chairs the 2026 Vietnam Plastics Association Member Meeting, strengthening industry connectivity amid market volatility

On March 18, 2026, at the Continental Saigon Hotel, the Vietnam Plastics Association (VPA) held its 2026 Member Meeting under the theme “Connecting Members & Aspiring to Reach Further”, bringing together member enterprises, industry experts, and partners to exchange insights, strengthen connections, review the outlook of Vietnam’s plastics industry, and discuss strategic directions for the next phase of development.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Tony, Dinh Duc Thang – Chairman of Stavian Group and Chairman of the Vietnam Plastics Association highlighted 2025 as a remarkable year for Vietnam’s plastics industry despite continued volatility in global markets. The industry’s total value was estimated at USD 34.3 billion, while total export turnover reached nearly USD 10 billion. Of this, plastic product exports accounted for approximately USD 7.473 billion, up 13.7% compared to 2024. These figures underscore the industry’s resilience, adaptability, and determination in navigating challenges.

Alongside these encouraging results, Mr. Tony, Dinh Duc Thang also pointed out key challenges facing the industry, including rising logistics costs, fluctuations in oil prices and exchange rates, increasingly stringent requirements related to environmental compliance, EPR, and ESG, as well as the urgent need for green transformation, technological innovation, and enhanced competitiveness. At the same time, the increasing number of trade remedy cases, particularly anti-dumping and anti-subsidy cases, is placing additional pressure on export activities and the long-term competitiveness of enterprises.

One of the program’s key highlights was the panel discussion on plastic raw materials and market fluctuations amid the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East. The session drew strong interest from member enterprises, as geopolitical instability continues to directly affect oil prices, raw material supply, logistics costs, procurement plans, and overall business efficiency across the plastics industry.
