At the event, Mr. Tony Dinh – Chairman of Vietnam Plastics Association – shared insights on the goals and development directions of Vietnam's plastics industry in the context of extensive international integration and green transition trends.

Remarkable achievements of Vietnam’s plastics industry

Mr. Tony Dinh, Chairman of Vietnam Plastics Association , opened the ceremony by emphasizing the plastics industry's key role, contributing significantly to national economic growth after a decade of steady development. With over 4,000 enterprises - over 90% of which are small and medium-sized businesses - the plastics industry provides jobs for over 250,000 workers.

Vietnamese plastic products meet domestic demand and are available in more than 170 global markets. The industry has experienced robust growth in central, highly potential markets such as the US, Japan, China, South Korea, Europe, Thailand, and India. The industry’s revenue in 2024 is expected to reach $31 billion, increasing 23.9% from 2023, marking a critical milestone in sustainable integration and development.

Opportunities, challenges, and development prospects

In his speech, Mr. Tony Dinh identified several factors driving the growth of Vietnam's plastics market, including the increasing use of plastic components in transportation manufacturing industries such as automotive, motorbike, and aerospace; global urbanization (which boosts demand for plastics in construction); the rapid expansion of the global middle class and the rise of e-commerce (which raise demand for household plastics and packaging materials). In addition, Vietnam has become one of the world’s key manufacturing hubs, thanks to numerous factories established and relocated, enhancing the development of domestic plastics market.
